Half-price Taxi Tickets

Zion seniors 65 years and older can sign up for the Township’s Half-Price Taxi Fare program for a 50% discount on taxi travel within the city limits, 24 hours a day and seven days a week.

Meals on Wheels

Zion and Benton Township seniors 60 years and older can contact Catholic Charities at 847-546-5733 to sign up for the Meals on Wheels program. Volunteers pick up meals at Zion Township to deliver a hot meal, 5 days per week, right to your doorstep. Meals on wheels is also looking for volunteers. If you’re interested in helping out please contact 847-546-5733.

Medical Loan Closet

Disabilities that are temporary or transitional still present an immediate need for durable, medical aids. Residents who no longer need medical support items donate them to Zion Township and the items are then loaned out to others in need at NO COST.

Senior Resource Day

Held in April yearly at Zion Park District’s Sports Arena, Senior Resource Day brings over 40 senior service vendors together to distribute information about their programs and services.
This program is free and features donuts, lunch, and PRIZES!

Senior Birthday Cards

Every Zion senior that has participated in a Zion Township program will receive a birthday card created by the Adults with Disabilities at Aspire (formerly Northpoint Resources, Inc.) filled with treats donated by Culver's, CJ’s Coffee House and the Zion-Benton Public Library!

Secretary of State Super Senior Event

Annually in October, the Secretary of State partners with Zion Township and the Zion-Benton Public Library to host a Rules of the Road Review Course and a mobile unit for ALL ages. Services provided include: Renewal/Correction of driver’s license, New, renewal and correction of driver’s license, State ID, License Plate Stickers, Organ Donor registration, and Motor Voters registration.

Zion Township offers a plethora of Emergency Resources to help you through unforeseen circumstances.

Weekly Grocery Shopping Trip

Zion Township contracts with the Zion Park District to provide curb-to-curb service to Zion senior residents most Fridays to and from their local grocery store of choice. Please call the Zion Park District at 847-746-5500 to schedule your trip.

Senior Luncheon

Zion Township partners with the Zion Park District to host a Senior Luncheon on the first Wednesday of each month at 10:00 a.m. at the Shiloh Senior Center (27th & Emmaus in Zion).  The luncheon is open to all Zion and Benton senior citizens and features entertainment as well as guest speakers.  Please contact the Park District at 847-746-5500 for more information.
